Bradley is demanding rail operators fix the problems with flooding at Alvechurch Train Station car park ‘once and for all.’
The local MP recently visited the car park to meet with Joceline Whittaker, who runs Alvechurch and Bordesley Nursery School, to discuss the impact the car park flooding is having on her nursery.
The nursery is accessed via the train station car park, and with regular flooding, it puts the safety of the nursery children at risk.
Although some of the holes in the car park were filled with 40 tonnes of stone to even out the surface back in October, this has done nothing to stop the flooding as the soakaways struggle to cope during periods of heavy rainfall.
Now, to find a long-lasting solution to the problem, Bradley is hoping to bring together West Midlands Trains and Network Rail.
Routine maintenance of the car park is the responsibility of West Midlands Trains, but more extensive repairs or remodelling are the responsibility of Network Rail.
Bradley said:
“Having seen the flooding for myself, it’s clear a long-lasting solution must be found so we can finally end the cycle of flooding once and for all.
“My next step will be to organise a meeting between West Midlands Trains and Network Rail who are the ones who can resolve this long-running saga.
“I won’t stop until the flooding has been resolved and the car park is fit for purpose.”
